Exide Industries has partnered with Germany’s ExCom Energy Solutions to grow its industrial battery business across the EEA.

The agreement was signed on 15 September 2026 and covers the entire European Economic Area, a market Exide has largely served through exports until now.

ExCom will handle the customer-facing side of the business in Europe.

That means finding new clients, managing distribution, supporting technical projects, and coordinating after-sales service once equipment is up and running.

Everything sold through this tie-up will carry the ExCom brand rather than Exide’s own name. Two product lines are involved at the start.

The first is traction batteries, the kind used in forklifts and other material-handling equipment at warehouses and logistics hubs.

The second is stationary battery systems, used to store power for factories, infrastructure projects and grid applications.

Both companies have said they eventually want to move into newer battery chemistries beyond standard lead-acid technology.

Avik Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Exide Industries, called the EEA a strategically important market for the company’s industrial energy storage business.

Holger Aschke, Managing Director of ExCom, said the goal is to build a strong European platform for traction batteries while also exploring next-generation storage options over time.

The tie-up lands alongside a strong quarter for Exide. Consolidated net sales for Q1 FY27 came in at Rs 5,528.38 crore, up 17.75% from a year earlier, while consolidated net profit rose 28.38% to Rs 350.47 crore.

The company had also put a further Rs 99.99 crore into its EV battery arm, Exide Energy Solutions, in mid-July, taking cumulative investment in that unit past Rs 4,900 crore.
