Bombay Burmah Trading surges after 18.3 lakh shares changed hands in a block deal.

Bombay Burmah Trading shares touched a day high of Rs 1,534.20 after 18.3 lakh shares changed hands in a block deal.

Here’s what happened. As many as 18.3 lakh shares, working out to 2.62% of the company’s total equity, were traded on the exchange at an average price of Rs 1,360 apiece.

That put the total value of the transaction at around Rs 249 crore. The identities of the buyers and sellers involved haven’t been disclosed yet.

Bombay Burmah is the flagship company of the Wadia Group, with interests spread across food, dairy, auto components and healthcare. It also holds a sizeable stake in Britannia Industries.

As of the June quarter, promoters held 74% of the company, while the remaining 26% sits with public shareholders, including Mutual Funds in India at 0.5% and Acacia Partners at over 4%.

There’s also a solid earnings backdrop to this rally. For the quarter ended June 2026, the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 582.7 crore, up 17.1% from Rs 497.7 crore in the same period last year.

Revenue from operations climbed 7.8% to Rs 5,088.7 crore, largely driven by strong growth in the food-bakery and dairy segment, which alone brought in Rs 5,003.5 crore.

Even with Friday’s gains, the stock is still some distance from its 52-week high of Rs 2,135, touched back in October last year. It hit a 52-week low of Rs 1,314.60 in March this year.

At 13:45 pm on Friday, Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation was trading at Rs 1,487.20 on the NSE, up 6.27% from Thursday’s close of Rs 1,399.40.
