Advait Energy’s arm signed a supply deal with HiTHIUM for up to 1 GWh of battery cells to feed its upcoming storage plant in Gujarat.
Advait Battery Ecosystem, a step-down subsidiary of Advait Energy Transitions Ltd, signed a Master Supply Agreement with HiTHIUM on 18 September, the company said in an exchange filing.
HiTHIUM is a global energy storage manufacturer, listed as a BloombergNEF Tier 1 supplier.
Battery energy storage systems, called BESS, hold power so it can be used later, on power grids and in factories.
Advait plans to assemble them in Gujarat, and it needs battery cells to do that. This deal covers the need. The plant needs cells first.
HiTHIUM will supply 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic cells, with up to 1 GWh of purchases over the next 12 months.
GWh is a measure of stored energy capacity. LFP cells are widely used in stationary storage because of their long life and stability.
The contract price is $49.5 per kWh for up to 350 MWh of cells. Pricing beyond that will depend on future project orders.
The cells will go to a planned assembly plant at Gangad in Gujarat, with a capacity of 2.5 GWh a year.
It will put together modules and packs, fit them into containers and commission the systems for utility, commercial and industrial customers. The company says commercial production should begin soon.
Bhushan Shahane, chief operating officer of Advait Battery Ecosystem, said a dependable, world-class cell supply is central to delivering cost-efficient storage systems as the plant scales up.
The 1 GWh covers about 40% of the plant’s yearly capacity. It is a supply framework, not a firm order for the whole amount, and actual use will depend on production schedules and customer demand.
For HiTHIUM, the deal opens a supply link with an Indian storage manufacturer. The listed parent is also widening its business.
It is expanding across battery storage manufacturing, green hydrogen, electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturing, and clean energy EPC work.
