Ircon expands beyond core railways, adding Kavach safety works & a 500 MW solar project to its ₹23,366 cr order book.
Ircon International Limited, a Navratna PSU, now bids for high-speed rail, metro and road projects as well as railway lines.
The shift shows up in its latest business numbers. Its first Kavach order came from South Western Railway.
Worth Rs 253.56 crore, it covers safety work across 778 route kilometres in the Bengaluru and Mysuru divisions.
Kavach is the railways’ automatic train protection system, built to stop trains before they collide. Solar is the other new line.
Its subsidiary, Ircon Renewable Power Limited, plans to set up a 500 MW solar power project. The company’s order book stood at Rs 23,366 crore on 30 June 2026.
Around 55% of that backlog now comes from competitive bidding, not projects handed over directly by the Ministry of Railways.
The profit picture is mixed. In the June quarter, consolidated revenue rose 9.5% to Rs 1,955.83 crore.
Consolidated profit after tax fell 43.6% to Rs 92.74 crore, as losses and delays at its subsidiary and joint venture units pulled the group figure down.
On a standalone basis, profit after tax grew 8.6% to Rs 163.52 crore. Shareholders cleared a final dividend of Rs 0.70 a share at the 50th annual general meeting on 24 September.
With the interim payout of Rs 1.20, the total for FY26 comes to Rs 1.90 a share. The same meeting appointed Saleem Ahmad as Chairman and Managing Director.
Suman Bala joined the board as an independent director in August, and the firm also plans to challenge a Rs 147.14 crore arbitration award in the Delhi High Court, a case that is still pending.
Management will also join the Bharat Connect Conference: Rising Stars on 30 September, a virtual group meeting.
Ircon said the talks will cover its business and information already in the public domain.
