Sterlite Tech hit a day high of Rs 955.35 on 1 October, up 5%, after its subsidiary signed a $1.2 billion long-term supply deal.

Sterlite Technologies Limited told the exchanges about the deal at about 11:25 am. Its wholly owned subsidiary has received a long-term supply agreement from a hyperscale customer.

The filing is dated 1 October. A hyperscaler is a giant tech firm that runs vast data centres. The customer’s name has not been revealed.

The pact covers optical connectivity products, made to the customer’s own specifications. In simple terms, these are the fibre links that carry data.

The deal is international. The $1.2 billion is an estimate, not a single order. It rests on current selling prices.

The customer will place purchase orders from time to time, and supplies are planned for each year from 2026 until the contract ends in December 2030.

Because the value depends on orders still to come, the final amount could end up higher or lower than the estimate.

Risk is shared. If either side falls short on demand or supply, the liability is capped at levels both have agreed.

There is no related-party angle here. The promoter, promoter group and group companies have no interest in the customer.

For context, NSE lists a board meeting on 24 July to consider the company’s financial results.

At 12:15 pm, Sterlite Tech shares traded at Rs 939.35 on NSE, up by 3.24%. The stock is up 816.78% so far in 2026 and 672.97% over the past year.

Its market value stands at about Rs 48,306 crore, and today’s high of Rs 955.35 is also a new 52-week peak.
