Shares of Lupin Ltd were trading in the green and 1% higher on 6 October after the pharmaceutical company launched Formoflo-G MDI, a new triple-combination inhaler for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in India.
The launch follows approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) and adds another differentiated product to Lupin’s respiratory portfolio.
Formoflo-G MDI combines three established medicines, Glycopyrronium Bromide, Formoterol Fumarate and Fluticasone Propionate, in a single metered-dose inhaler. Lupin said the product is designed for the long-term management and treatment of moderate to severe COPD and is available as a single-strength fixed dose taken twice daily.
Lupin has described Formoflo-G as the world’s first fixed-dose triple-combination MDI for COPD management. By bringing three therapies into one device, the product provides healthcare professionals with another treatment option for appropriate patients requiring long-term COPD management.
The launch targets a large patient population in India. Lupin estimates that more than 55 million people in the country live with COPD, which remains a major cause of death and disability. The company expects the new product to expand treatment options in the respiratory segment, where it already has a strong presence.
According to IQVIA MAT March 2026 data cited by Lupin, the company ranks second in India’s respiratory therapy segment. The latest launch strengthens its focus on inhalation therapies and complex products as it looks to build its presence in higher-value segments.
Lupin Managing Director Nilesh Gupta said the product reflects the company’s focus on addressing unmet needs in respiratory care through differentiated therapies. Rajeev Sibal, President of India Region Formulations, said combining three established treatments in one inhaler strengthens Lupin’s respiratory portfolio.
The launch also fits into Lupin’s broader strategy of expanding its complex product portfolio. The company operates across generics, complex generics, specialty medicines and biosimilars, with products distributed in more than 100 markets.
At 1:25 pm, the shares of Lupin were trading 0.88% higher at Rs 2,028.80 on NSE.
