Bharti Airtel shares hit a day high of Rs 1,854.70 on 7 October, up 2%, after the telecom firm raised its postpaid plan prices by Rs 50.
Bharti Airtel Limited has raised the monthly rental on its postpaid plans by Rs 50 across the range, sources reported. The entry-level plan now costs Rs 499 a month.
The new prices come with free international roaming. Each SIM gets one free trip a year.
The pack lasts five days and includes 5GB of data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS.
Customers can switch it on whenever they like, not only when they travel. Family plans count every SIM separately, so each member gets a free trip.
The line-up now runs from Rs 499 for one user to Rs 1,799 for a family of five. In between sit plans at Rs 749, Rs 1,049, Rs 1,249 and Rs 1,449.
All of them offer unlimited data and calling along with spam and fraud protection, and the bundled streaming and music subscriptions grow as the price goes up.
Airtel put out a press release on 7 October, according to the NSE announcements page. The roaming benefit starts on Thursday, 8 October.
Within a month, current postpaid subscribers will automatically switch to the new plans.
Anyone else can upgrade through the Airtel app or a store, and people on other networks can switch to Airtel postpaid the same way.
Amit Tripathi, Director, Market Operations, said the roaming offer builds on perks already in the plans, such as Fast Lane technology.
A little background helps. Sources noted that the last broad-based tariff hike across the industry came in July 2024.
Airtel’s stock touched its 52-week low of Rs 1,726.30 on 1 October and has climbed 4.94% over the past week.
At 13:55 pm, it’s trading at Rs 1,843.80 on NSE, up Rs 33.30 or 1.84% from the previous close of Rs 1,810.50. The stock opened at Rs 1,823.
It is still down 12.63% so far this year and well below its 52-week high of Rs 2,174.50, with a market value of around Rs 11.51 lakh crore.
