TCS Declares Rs 12 Dividend as Q2 Profit Rises 4%

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
TCS surges hours before it declared a Rs 12 dividend with its Q2 results.

TCS shares touched a day high of Rs 2,141.50 on 8 October, hours before it declared a Rs 12 dividend with its Q2 results.

India’s largest IT services company said its board approved a second interim dividend of Rs 12 per share for the 2026-27 financial year.

The record date is 14 October. Payment follows on 30 October. A record date is the cut-off day. Only shareholders on the company’s books by then get the payout.

The press release followed a minute later. TCS also shared its July to September numbers. Profit stood at Rs 13,884 crore, up 4% from Rs 13,349 crore in the previous quarter.

Revenue rose 1.3% to Rs 73,188 crore, while the operating profit margin came in at 24%, slightly below 24.38% last quarter.

TCS’s AI business now runs at a yearly pace of $3.1 billion, which is over 10% of total revenue. The company also signed new contracts worth $9.6 billion during the quarter.

CEO K Krithivasan said TCS announced two deals this quarter, with Porsche and Best Buy, and called them a new kind of partnership with clients.

Earlier, TCS set record dates of 25 May for a Rs 31 dividend and 15 July for a Rs 12 interim dividend.

All of this came after the close, so Thursday’s price move did not reflect the results. Traders will get their first chance to react when trading resumes.

TCS closed at Rs 2,076.00 on NSE, down Rs 4.30 or 0.21% from the previous close of Rs 2,080.30.

Over the past month, the stock has fallen 7.96%, and over one year it has lost 31.42%. Its market value is about Rs 7.51 lakh crore.
