L&T shares touched a day high of Rs 3,702 on 8 October but closed 2% lower, even as its Q2 order wins hit around Rs 1.3 lakh crore so far.

Larsen & Toubro Limited has announced orders worth around Rs 1.3 lakh crore so far in the July to September quarter, according to the sources.

The first quarter brought in Rs 87,300 crore of order inflow. Taken together, announced orders for the first half of FY27 run at around Rs 2 lakh crore.

The Middle East supplied the biggest chunk. Projects worth nearly Rs 77,500 crore came from the region, spanning oil and gas, offshore work, infrastructure, gas compression plants and battery storage.

Closer to home, L&T picked up thermal power projects from NTPC and Damodar Valley Corporation, platform and pipeline work from ONGC, and a mega order tied to Nvidia.

That last one stands out. In August, L&T said it had won what it calls India’s largest single-cluster Nvidia B300 AI factory, for US-based Together AI.

It will house 10,000 Nvidia chips at the Vyoma data centre campus in Chennai. An AI factory is simply a data centre built to train and run AI models, and phase one of the campus has a capacity of 250 MW.

A busy quarter, then. There was fresh news on 7 October too. The sources reported that L&T’s power transmission business won orders in India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE valued between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore.

At the end of June, the company’s order book stood at Rs 7.8 lakh crore. L&T ended the day at Rs 3,625.10 on NSE, down Rs 76.40 or 2.06% from the previous close of Rs 3,701.50.

The stock is down 12.45% so far this year and well below its 52-week high of Rs 4,440, with a market value of around Rs 4.99 lakh crore.
