Lupin shares touched a day high of Rs 1,968.90 on 9 October, up 2%, after the drug maker won US FDA approval for a vitamin K injection.

Phytonadione is the medical name for vitamin K. Doctors use it when blood does not clot well or the body runs short of the vitamin.

Lupin’s version comes as a 1 mg/0.5 mL injection already loaded into a single-dose syringe, so it is ready to use.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cleared it on Lupin’s application for a generic version, known as an ANDA.

The regulator accepted it as a match for the original product, a vitamin K injection made by International Medication Systems Limited.

The US market for this drug is worth about $52.3 million a year, based on IQVIA data for the 12 months to August 2026.

Lupin shared the news with exchanges late on 8 October. It has been a busy few weeks for the Mumbai-based company.

On 28 September, it received tentative US FDA approval for an apixaban oral suspension, a liquid blood thinner.

Then on 6 October, it launched an inhaler for COPD, a long-term lung disease, in India after approval from the Drug Controller General of India.

The stock also went ex-dividend on 17 July for a payout of Rs 18 per share.

At 11:41 am, the stock was trading at Rs 1,956.90 on NSE, up by 1.03% from the previous close of Rs 1,936.90.

Even with the rise, the share is down 3.70% over the past week and 6.85% over the past month.

It also sits well below its 52-week high of Rs 2,529.50, set on 16 July, and the company’s market value is about Rs 89,487 crore.
