Zydus Lifesciences told exchanges that the US FDA inspection of its Moraiya plant ended on October 13 with five observations.

The inspection ran from 5 to 13 October at the company’s formulation plant in Moraiya, Ahmedabad.

The visit lasted nine days. A formulation plant turns medicine ingredients into finished medicines such as tablets and capsules.

Zydus did not say what the inspectors found. It said only that it will address all five observations quickly.

Five is a count, not a description, so the details stay with the company and the regulator until someone says more.

At the end of a visit, US inspectors hand the plant a written list of issues they want fixed. The regulator calls this list Form 483. It is not a ban, and it does not carry a penalty.

The company writes back with a plan, and the regulator reviews that reply before deciding whether the plant meets its standards.

Moraiya makes medicines for the US market, which is why Zydus reported the outcome under Regulation 30 of the SEBI listing rules.

That rule requires listed companies to share developments that could matter to their business.

Inspections like this one are a regular check on overseas plants that supply American patients.

The news came in a busy week for Zydus. On 5 October, the day the inspection began, the company and MSN Laboratories launched the first generic version of Adempas in the US.

Adempas treats certain forms of pulmonary hypertension, a condition that raises blood pressure in the lungs. Until now, US patients could buy riociguat only as the branded drug.

MSN developed and makes the generic, which the partners launched in all five strengths.

Zydus now has to send its written response to the USFDA, and it plans to do so within the required timelines. The regulator’s final view on the plant will follow its review of that reply.
