SEAMEC Takes Over Vessel SEAMEC Anant From HAL Offshore

SEAMEC
On 30 September, it won a charter hire order worth $19.02 million for ONGC's subsea projects.

SEAMEC Limited has taken over the vessel SEAMEC Anant from HAL Offshore Limited, completing a purchase the offshore services firm first flagged in July.

The handover took place at Kakinada, the port city in Andhra Pradesh, on 14 October. SEAMEC received the information and passed it to the stock exchanges the same day under market disclosure rules.

In practical terms, SEAMEC now has physical control of a ship it agreed to buy months ago.

The filing points back to two earlier letters, dated 21 July and 31 August, which covered the purchase agreement and a follow-up addendum.

Summaries of the filing carry no price. A market news report puts the deal at $70 million and says shareholders approved it by postal ballot, since HAL Offshore is SEAMEC’s parent company.

SEAMEC is a marine contractor that serves offshore oil and gas fields, with its registered office in Andheri East, Mumbai.

It is part of the MMG Group and holds certification from the International Marine Contractors Association, along with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.

The purchase follows a busy few weeks. On 17 September, the company completed the sale of a bulk carrier vessel named Gallant.

Its vessel Agastya returned to work on 19 September, rented out from that date. On 30 September, it won a charter hire order worth $19.02 million for ONGC’s subsea projects.

On 5 October, Samudra Prabha, a vessel SEAMEC manages for ONGC, came off its project for statutory drydocking. The pause began at 4 am that day.

ONGC owns the ship. Drydocking is the mandatory maintenance check ships go through to stay safe and legal at sea.

S.N. Mohanty, the company’s president for corporate affairs, legal and company secretary, signed the filing. The summaries of it do not say when SEAMEC Anant will start work or which contract will use it.
