Aeroflex Industries Ltd said on October 19 it won an Indian patent for a system that automatically builds 3D models of braided hoses.
In plain terms, engineers use 3D computer models, known as CAD models, to design a product on screen before it is made.
Aeroflex’s patented system generates these models for braided hoses automatically.
Braided hoses are flexible tubes wrapped in woven metal strands and used in industrial flow systems.
The company said the patent supports its push into research, automation and advanced engineering design.
Managing Director Asad Daud said ‘innovation and R&D remain central to our growth strategy’ at Aeroflex.
The product range is wide. Aeroflex sells more than 3,300 products, counted as stock-keeping units, with hose diameters ranging from 1/4 inch to 14 inches.
Data centres are also on the company’s radar. Aeroflex is developing liquid cooling skid assemblies for the next generation of AI data centres.
A skid assembly is a ready-built frame that holds pipes and parts together, so it can be installed as one unit.
The patent news follows a bigger expansion plan from earlier this month. On 14 October, Aeroflex announced a capital spending plan of Rs 202 crore, to be carried out by March 2028.
The spending is meant to expand manufacturing across its core hose and assembly divisions.
Under that plan, capacity for stainless steel hose and braiding will rise from 20 million metres a year to 30 million metres, a jump of 50%.
Capacity for liquid cooling skid assemblies will grow to 30,000 pieces a year. The two updates sit side by side.
One concerns design tools, while the other adds factory capacity for hoses and for cooling equipment aimed at data centres.
Aeroflex makes flexible flow solutions for a wide range of industries, with customers in India and abroad.
