HUL shares touched a day high of Rs 1,861.20 as the FMCG major reported 15% Q2 sales growth and a Rs 19 interim dividend.
The trigger was the company’s September quarter report. Net profit rose 3.9% to Rs 2,790 crore from Rs 2,685 crore a year earlier, and turnover climbed 14.8% to Rs 18,071 crore.
The profit number needs some context. Last year’s figure included a Rs 97 crore loss from a business the company had discontinued.
Profit from its continuing business stayed nearly flat at Rs 2,796 crore. Selling more goods did the heavy lifting.
Underlying sales growth hit 15%, the best in 14 quarters, and underlying volume growth reached 7%. Volume simply means the quantity of products sold.
Priya Nair, the Managing Director and CEO, said the economy remains resilient and the company will keep investing in long-term capabilities.
Home Care led the way, with revenue up 21.4% to Rs 6,878 crore. Personal Care slipped, and its profit fell 8.7% to Rs 449 crore.
Operating profit (EBITDA) rose 8% to Rs 4,089 crore. Margins narrowed to about 22.6% from 24%. Shareholders also get a payout.
The board declared an interim dividend of Rs 19 per share, with 12 November as the record date and 25 November as the payment date.
In June, the stock went ex-dividend for a Rs 22 per share payout. For the rest of FY27, HUL said it expects a better year than FY26.
It also expects commodity costs to rise in the short term and kept its margin guidance at 22% to 24%.
At 12:45 pm, HUL shares traded at Rs 1,804.30 on NSE, down Rs 13.70 or 0.75%. The stock has lost about 22% this year, and its market value stands near Rs 4.24 lakh crore.
