GE Vernova T&D India shares hit a day high of Rs 4,224.50, up 4%, after Power Grid awarded it a 6,000 MW HVDC terminal station order.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has handed GE Vernova T&D India Limited a formal letter of award for a major power transmission project, the company told exchanges on 4 November.

The letter is dated 3 November. The job is to design and set up a 6,000 MW HVDC terminal station, made up of two 3,000 MW units.

It will move renewable power from Barmer II in Rajasthan to South Kalamb in Maharashtra.

In plain terms, HVDC is a way to send huge amounts of electricity over long distances with lower losses on the line. The contract value is not public yet.

GE Vernova T&D India did not disclose it in the filing. The two sides will sign a definitive agreement in due course.

When it disclosed its L1 status, the company said the work would run over several years. This award follows earlier news.

On 7 September, the company said it had emerged as the L1 bidder, which means the lowest bidder, for the same project. Its shares rose 7.44% in the next session.

Net profit for the April to June quarter rose 25% to Rs 363 crore. In August, the stock also went ex-dividend for a Rs 10 per share payout, double the Rs 5 paid a year earlier.

Trading began on a shaky note. The stock opened at Rs 4,056.30, slid as low as Rs 3,903.00 and then climbed steadily through the morning.

About 5.50 lakh shares, worth Rs 225.10 crore, had changed hands so far.

At 12:13 pm, GE Vernova T&D India shares were trading at Rs 4,217.90 on NSE, up by 4.15% from the previous close of Rs 4,050.00.

It’s still about 25% below its 52-week high of Rs 5,650.00 from 23 June, though the stock has gained 33.29% in 2026. Its market value is Rs 1,07,997.87 crore.
