Alembic Pharmaceuticals shares touched a day high of Rs 936.95 on 5 November after the company won final US FDA approval for an eye drop.
The company told exchanges on 4 November that the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) gave final approval to its generic version of an over-the-counter eye drop.
The product is Olopatadine Hydrochloride Ophthalmic Solution 0.7%. People use it to ease itchy eyes caused by pollen, ragweed, grass, pet hair and dander.
No prescription is needed. It is a generic copy of Pataday Once Daily Relief, which Alcon Laboratories sells.
The USFDA treats the two as therapeutically equivalent, which means they work the same way.
Alembic built the product with Orbicular Pharmaceutical Technologies.
The US market for this eye drop stood at about $20 million in the 12 months to September 2026, according to IQVIA data.
The approval also changes Alembic’s USFDA tally. The company now holds 229 final approvals, up from 228 a few days ago, and 19 tentative ones, which are not yet cleared for sale.
Its overall count stays at 248. On 30 October, Alembic won final USFDA approval for Venetoclax tablets, a cancer medicine.
The US market for that drug was about $1,584 million in the 12 months to June 2026, and the company may be eligible for 180 days of generic exclusivity.
A day earlier, Alembic reported its second-quarter results. Revenue rose 36% to Rs 2,603 crore and profit after tax climbed 81% to Rs 335 crore.
Shares had already hit the 20% daily limit on 4 November, so Thursday’s move comes on top of that jump.
At 10:37 am, shares were trading at Rs 926.15 on the NSE, up Rs 19.45 or 2.15% from the previous close of Rs 906.70.
The stock has risen 16.54% over the past week and 11.44% over the past month.
