ACME Solar Commissions 66.68 MW solar capacity in Rajasthan, boosting its Bikaner project total to 133.36 MW.
The new capacity sits in Kelan village, Chhatargarh tehsil, Bikaner district. ACME Renewtech, the company’s subsidiary, switched it on 5 October.
In its filing, the firm said formal commercial operations begin on 7 October. This is one stage of a larger build.
The wider project is a 300 MW hybrid power plant, and 133.36 MW of its solar capacity is now commissioned.
The latest addition moves ACME closer to finishing the full 300 MW. The buyer is already lined up.
ACME Renewtech has a power purchase agreement with NTPC for this project, so NTPC has agreed to buy the electricity it produces.
ACME Solar is an independent power producer, meaning it builds and runs its own plants and sells the power.
Manoj Kumar Upadhyay, chairman of the ACME Group, founded it in 2003.
Today it works across solar, wind, hybrid and round-the-clock renewable projects in 11 states, and it also builds battery storage systems.
It has bigger plans too. The company wants to set up a solar module factory in Jaipur and has green hydrogen and green ammonia initiatives under way. The timing is notable for the wider power sector.
Sources reported on 6 October, citing two federal officials, that several states have asked the Centre for extra electricity because supply tightens at night.
Rajasthan and Gujarat, two of India’s leading renewable energy states, are among them.
India’s power shortages reached 560 million kilowatt-hours in September, the highest since August 2023, according to the report.
It also noted that limited battery storage makes it hard to move surplus daytime solar power into the evening.
ACME’s filing does not link this project to those shortages. For now, the next milestone is clear: finishing the rest of the Bikaner project.
