Afcons Infrastructure has picked up two new contracts worth close to ₹900 crore in July, adding to its urban infrastructure order book.
Both wins came in the normal course of business, and Afcons hasn’t disclosed the names of the specific projects, the awarding authorities, or how the ₹900 crore splits between the two.
What is known is that both fall within the company’s urban infrastructure and transportation businesses.
One involves civil construction and tunnelling work, using tunnel boring machine technology, for a metro project.
The other is a road construction contract that adds to the company’s highways portfolio. These wins matter beyond their price tag because of where they sit.
Afcons has been building out its presence specifically in India’s urban infrastructure space, metro systems, highways, and related civil works, an area that’s seeing steady government investment as cities expand their transit networks. Afcons itself isn’t a small player.
It’s the flagship engineering and construction company of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, with a history of more than six decades and operations spanning 31 countries across South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
It has built a track record executing technically demanding EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects, both in India and abroad. That track record shows up in independent rankings too.
In the latest Engineering News-Record (ENR) survey, a widely tracked global ranking of construction and engineering firms, Afcons placed among the top 140 international contractors worldwide.
Within that list, it ranked 12th specifically in the bridges category and 8th in marine and ports work, both areas that reflect the kind of complex infrastructure work the company specialises in.
