Artificial intelligence could soon reshape the global job market in ways never seen before. According to Chen Deli, a researcher at Chinese AI firm DeepSeek, most human jobs could be replaced by AI within the next decade as the technology becomes more advanced and autonomous.
Speaking at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, Chen said the coming years will bring a βhoneymoon phase.β During this period, AI will boost productivity without fully replacing people. However, within five to ten years, rapid progress could make AI capable of performing much of the work humans do today. This could create serious social and economic challenges.
Chen urged tech companies to act as βguardians of humanity.β He emphasized this by asking them to ensure AI development prioritizes safety and ethics. Additionally, he warned society of potential risks. He noted that while he is optimistic about AIβs potential, he is deeply concerned about its long-term impact on communities and jobs.
Other tech leaders share similar concerns. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently said that AI could soon handle 30β40% of human tasks. Furthermore, it might achieve superintelligence by 2030. While this could lead to major job losses, he added that new opportunities will also emerge. AI will likely transform industries.
