Airtel Partners with NSDC to Train Rural Areas on Financial Services

Airtel partners with National Skill Corporation (NSDC) to train and skill the rural youth on financial services, aims at designing and conducting targeted skill development programs focusing on adoption of tools to boost online banking and digital financial services; especially because the stay-at-home restrictions and usage of 4G have increased and the smartphone market continues to grow. “India has the largest youth population in the world and a large proportion is residing in small towns and villages of the country,” said Anubrata Biswas, managing director and chief executive officer of Airtel Payments Bank Ltd.
“We are delighted to partner with NSDC to empower our youth and build a financially inclusive India,” she added.
The training will enable rural people to find jobs and become entrepreneurs in the sector, the payments bank parent Bharti Airtel Ltd said in a statement on Wednesday.
Post-training these entry-level business correspondents, field sales executives will be given support for industry placements by Airtel Payments Bank and NSDC. They will also be facilitated to become entrepreneurs namely distributors or resellers of financial services. This, in turn, will help to generate employment in the local ecosystems. in addition, NSDC’s training centres will be utilized by Airtel Payments Bank to organise digital banking awareness campaigns.
Mr Manish Kumar, MD & CEO NSDC beautifully summed it up:
“Through our strategic partnership with Airtel Payments Bank, we aim at imparting the youth with knowledge and training that render financial and banking services more accessible to rural and semi-urban India”.
