Alibaba launched Qwen 3 on 29th April, an upgraded AI model with new hybrid reasoning features.

The launch comes amid growing competition in China’s AI sector, driven by DeepSeek’s early-year success with low-cost, high-performing models.

Baidu also entered the race recently, unveiling Ernie 4.5 Turbo and Ernie X1 Turbo with strong reasoning capabilities. Qwen 3 combines standard AI functions with advanced reasoning to help developers build smarter applications.

Alibaba had earlier released Qwen 2.5-Max in January, shortly after DeepSeek’s rise, claiming better performance. With Qwen 3, Alibaba aims to offer a more efficient and adaptive AI platform for the Chinese tech ecosystem.
