Arvind Kejriwal Offers Free Electricity upto 200 Units in Delhi

Arvind Kejriwal Chief Minister has announced today that electricity power subsidy will be extended for tenants in Delhi. From now onwards, tenants can install prepaid meters which will be used for domestic purposes.
Tenants will have to get a prepaid meter installed after depositing security money of Rs 3,000,” said Kejriwal.
Under ‘Mukhyamantri Kirayedaar Bijli Meter Yojna’, meters will be programmed in a way that up to 200 units will be free. In Delhi, those who consume up to 200 units of electricity, need not pay their electricity bills. If a consumer uses 201 units in a month, he/she has to pay the bill.
Previously, the Delhi government had announced free electricity for people consuming up to 200 units per month. Those who consume between 201 and 400 units would be given a 50 per cent subsidy by the state government. The free power decision is expected to cost Rs 1,800-2,000 crore annually, Kejriwal said.
Till now, tenants were not able to avail the Delhi government’s power subsidy scheme. There will be no hike in electricity tariff for the fifth consecutive year in Delhi.
