Ashoka Buildcon Gets LOI for Maharashtra Transmission Project

Ashoka Buildcon Ltd
Ashoka Buildcon will be involved in developing the required transmission infrastructure under the project.

Shares of Ashoka Buildcon are in focus after the company received a Letter of Intent (LOI) for a transmission project in Maharashtra, with annual transmission charges of around Rs 126.5 crore.

The development adds another power infrastructure opportunity to the company’s growing order pipeline. The project has been awarded by Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (MSETCL). Ashoka Buildcon will be involved in developing the required transmission infrastructure under the project.

In simple terms, transmission projects are used to move electricity from power generation centres to distribution networks and large areas where the electricity is needed. Such projects have become increasingly important as India adds more renewable power capacity and electricity demand continues to rise.

For Ashoka Buildcon, the latest LOI is also significant because it adds to its presence beyond its traditional road and highway construction business. The company has been expanding into areas such as power transmission, railways and urban infrastructure.

This is not the company’s first major transmission project in Maharashtra. In March 2025, Ashoka Buildcon received an LOA from MSETCL for a Rs 311.92 crore turnkey project involving a 400/220 kV substation at Nandgaon Peth in Amravati district.

The latest project could provide the company with a recurring revenue opportunity through the annual transmission charges. However, investors will continue to track the conversion of the LOI into the final agreement and the execution of the project.

The development comes as India continues to invest heavily in electricity transmission infrastructure to support rising power demand and the integration of renewable energy into the grid.

At 3:30 pm, the shares of Ashoka Buildcon closed 1.50% lower at Rs 112.40 on the NSE.
