Astra Microwave Products shares surged nearly 14% on Friday, touching a fresh 52-week high on the NSE, after the defence electronics company announced a Rs 2,205.23 crore order from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL).
The contract involves the supply of 122 Advanced Airborne Active Array Units (AAAUs) and 121 interface frames for HAL’s Uttam Radar programme. In simple terms, the equipment forms an important part of the radar system used in India’s defence aircraft.
The order is particularly significant because of its size. Astra Microwave’s standalone order book stood at around Rs 2,141 crore as of March 31, 2026, meaning the latest HAL contract is larger than the company’s entire order book at the end of the previous financial year. This provides strong visibility for future revenue and execution.
The latest win also comes as India continues to increase domestic defence production and reduce dependence on imported equipment. Astra Microwave is involved in the design and manufacture of defence electronics and radar-related systems, making it a direct beneficiary of rising demand for locally developed defence technology.
Investors will now track how quickly the company executes the HAL contract and whether further orders follow. The size of the deal also strengthens expectations around Astra Microwave’s revenue growth in FY27 and beyond.
At around 11:53 AM, Astra Microwave shares were trading 11.30% higher at Rs 1,921.20 on the NSE.
