Ather Energy shares touched a fresh all-time high of Rs 1,717.70 on Monday after the company launched its new mass-market scooter.
The rally goes back to Ather’s Community Day event on August 29. That’s where the company unveiled Konarc, its first scooter built on a new platform called EL.
Priced from Rs 99,999 ex-showroom, Konarc shifts Ather away from its premium-only image toward the much bigger mainstream family scooter buyer, a space currently ruled by rivals like TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.
Deliveries begin in September. Ather didn’t stop at the scooter. It also introduced its fifth-generation Bedrock battery, which comes with a monitoring feature called BreachSense that can catch microscopic damage before moisture gets a chance to seep in.
The battery carries a 10-year or 1,00,000 km warranty, along with a 70% state-of-health guarantee.
On top of that, the company launched AtherNode, a system that helps apartment complexes manage EV charging when electrical capacity is limited, and Ather True Health, a report that tracks a scooter’s battery, motor and overall condition as it ages.
There’s a second thread running through this story. A day before the Community Day event, on August 28, Hero MotoCorp bought an additional 1.18 crore shares in Ather from the Government of Singapore for Rs 1,758 crore.
That single transaction took Hero’s stake in Ather to 32.8% on a fully diluted basis. Demand for Ather’s current lineup has been climbing too.
Pre-orders and enquiries jumped sharply during the June quarter compared to the year before, even as the broader electric two-wheeler market crossed 11% penetration of total two-wheeler sales in India.
Ather closed Monday’s session at Rs 1,717.70, up 6.27% from its previous close of Rs 1,616.30, setting a new all-time high for the stock on the NSE.
