Aurobindo Pharma shares climbed over 1% on Monday, touching a day high of Rs 1,669, after its API unit cleared a routine US FDA inspection.
The inspection took place at Unit-VI, an active pharmaceutical ingredient facility run by Apitoria Pharma, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aurobindo.
The plant sits in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh. US FDA officials inspected the site from August 24 to August 28 and wrapped up the audit with three observations.
The company called these procedural, meaning they concern processes and paperwork rather than product quality or safety.
Aurobindo said it will respond to the regulator within the required timeline. There’s more from the group on the US FDA front this month.
A week earlier, Lannett Company LLC, a step-down subsidiary based in Seymour, Indiana, picked up four similar procedural observations following a routine inspection between August 17 and August 21.
Separately, AuroPeptides, the company’s Telangana-based peptide API unit, received one observation related to facility and equipment maintenance.
The business itself is doing well. For the June quarter of FY27, Aurobindo reported consolidated revenue of Rs 9,150.3 crore, up 16.3% year-on-year. Net profit for the quarter grew 25.2% year-on-year to Rs 1,032 crore.
As of 11:02 am on Monday, Aurobindo Pharma shares stood at Rs 1,667.20, up 1.33% for the day on the NSE. The company’s market capitalisation was Rs 95,927 crore.
