Avenue Supermarts Shares Shot Up 2% on Opening New Stores 

The total number of stores have reached 396.

Shares of Avenue Supermarts Ltd were trading in the green and 2% higher on 7 March after the company announced the opening of 4 new stores. 

In its regulatory filing, the company said that they have opened stores at Chikkaballapur (Karnataka), Ampa Skyone Mall – Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Garden Enclave – Amritsar (Punjab), and Kamed – Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh), taking the company’s total stores to 396. 

Avenue Supermarts Limited operates DMart, a national supermarket chain offering a diverse range of products, including food, non-food essentials, and general merchandise. Since launching its first store in 2002, DMart has expanded to 284 locations across India, with a presence in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka. The company was founded by Radhakishan Damani and his family.

For the third quarter ending 31 December 2024, Avenue Supermarts Ltd reported a 17.5% increase in standalone revenue from operations, reaching Rs 15,565.23 crore, compared to Rs 13,247.33 crore in the same quarter the previous year. As of December 2024, the total number of DMart stores had grown to 387, reflecting the company’s continued expansion in India’s retail sector.

At 3:30 pm, the shares of Avenue Supermarts closed 1.26% higher at Rs 3,585 on NSE.
