Balesh Sharma, has been named as the new chief executive for the Voadafone-Idea combined venture.
At present, he is the chief operating officer at Vodafone India. Akshaya Moondra, the present chief financial officer at Idea, will become the finance chief at the merged firm. Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of Idea’s parent Aditya Birla conglomerate, will be the non-executive chairman of the combined telecoms company.
Furthermore, Vodafone Group and Idea have agreed to combine their India operations in March last year, and the companies are expecting to complete the merger in the first half of this year.
