Bata India Promoters Sell Company Shares Worth Rs 613 Crore

On Wednesday, Bata India’s promoter BATA B V sold a 2.56% stake in the footwear company for nearly Rs 613 crore in an open market transaction. The stocks were picked by a slew of domestic mutual funds (MFs), foreign investors and an insurance company.


The entities purchasing the shares are Tata MF, Mirae Asset MF, HDFC MF, Axis MF, Aditya Birla Sunlife MF, Kotak MF, HDFC Standard Life Insurance Co Ltd, Ghisallo Master Fund LP, Integrated Core Strategies (ASIA) Pte Ltd, Segantii India Mauritius, BSE block trade data provided by Societe Generale and Copthall Mauritius Investment Ltd.


According to the data, the promoters sold 32.95 lakh shares, accounting for 2.56% of the company’s shares. The shares were sold at an average price of Rs 1,860 per share, and the transaction size totalled Rs 612.87 crore.


As of March 31, 2022, BATA (BN), B V holds 52.96%, domestic mutual funds hold 19.46%, insurance companies hold 7.92%, and overseas investment portfolio holds 6.66%. Shareholding data and exchange display.
