BEL shares touched a day high of Rs 392.25 on Monday after the company secured fresh defence orders worth Rs 847 crore.
The new orders span a wide mix, electro-optics, a security operation centre, seekers, components, spares and services.
BEL didn’t specify what each individual contract is worth or who the clients are, only that these were the orders received since its last disclosure on July 13.
There’s a pattern here worth noting. This is BEL’s third order announcement in just over a month, following Rs 1,081 crore in late June and Rs 572 crore on July 13.
Add it all up and that’s close to Rs 2,500 crore in fresh business over roughly five weeks. The company’s order book now stands at Rs 72,258 crore as of July 1, which gives it plenty of work lined up for the quarters ahead.
The timing is notable too, since this comes right after BEL’s June quarter numbers. Consolidated net profit grew 9% year on year to Rs 1,054 crore, and revenue climbed 25% to Rs 5,546 crore.
EBITDA rose 8% to Rs 1,559 crore, though the margin slipped a bit to 28.13% as costs crept up. By the close on Monday, BEL was at Rs 392.15 on the NSE, up 1.11% on the day.
