Shares of BEML gained more than 3%, touching an intraday high of Rs 2,047.80 on the NSE on Wednesday after the state-owned company secured an additional order worth around Rs 180.60 crore from Integral Coach Factory (ICF) for the manufacturing and supply of Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets.
The latest contract adds to BEMLβs growing presence in Indiaβs railway manufacturing programme. The company said the order from ICF is part of its normal course of business. The filing did not specify the number of trainsets covered by the contract or the delivery schedule.
The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are being developed for long-distance and overnight travel, expanding the scope of the Vande Bharat platform beyond daytime chair-car services. The government has also indicated that full-scale production of 24-car Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets is expected to begin during FY27.
The order comes at a time when BEML has been reporting a steady flow of contracts across its rail, defence and international businesses. On August 14, the company received a $6.65 million order from Mauritius for the supply of BE220G hydraulic excavators.
Earlier, on August 11, it secured a Rs 184.25 crore order from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd for manufacturing and supplying fuselage aero structures for Light Combat Helicopters.
BEML has also set an ambitious target of securing orders worth around Rs 20,000 crore during FY27. In the June 2026 quarter, its consolidated revenue from operations rose 29% year-on-year to Rs 819.62 crore, while its net loss narrowed to Rs 27 crore from Rs 64.11 crore a year earlier.
At 3:30 pm, the shares of BEML closed 3.42% higher at Rs 2,037.60 on NSE.
