On Thursday, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said that it has commissioned 500 MW unit at the Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Project in Maharashtra.

“BHEL has successfully commissioned the first 500 MW unit at the 2×500 MW Chandrapur Super Themal Power Project, Stage 3 of Maharashtra State Power Generation Company in Maharashtra,” the company said in a statement.

It also added that, “Work on the second 500 MW unit of stage 3 of the project is going on and the unit is expected to be commissioned in financial year 2015-16.”
