Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh paid floral tributes to three Indian army personnel, who died fighting the Chinese in Galwan Valley. The bodies of sepoys Gurbinder Singh (Sangrur), Gurtej Singh (Mansa) and sepoy Ankush Thakur (Hamirpur, HP) were brought to the Chandigarh Air Force station from Leh and will be taken by road to their native places in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh later.

“Laying a wreath on the dead bodies of Sepoys Gurbinder Singh from Sangrur, Gurtej Singh from Mansa and Ankush from Hamirpur, HP at Chandigarh. Salute their supreme sacrifice at this young age. The nation is forever indebted. Jai Hind!’ Mr Singh tweeted.

‘What is clear now is hydroxychloroquine does not have we know for sure now does not have an impact on the disease in mortality in hospitalised COVID-19 patients,’ said Swaminathan, an Indian paediatrician.

‘Where there is still a gap is: does it have any role at all in prevention, or in minimising the severity in early infection? We don’t know that, as yet,’ she said.

Hydroxychloroquine is being tested on healthcare workers and others with heightened exposure to the virus in large, randomised trials.
