As the Union Budget 2025-26 draws near, industry stakeholders eagerly anticipate key railway sector announcements, focusing on freight operations and infrastructure advancements.

Texmaxo MD Sudipta Mukherjee hopes for a major wagon order in Budget 2025, building on the 2022 announcement of 1.2 lakh wagons. This order aims to increase rail’s share in logistics from 26-27% to 45%.

Vivek Lohia, MD of Jupiter Wagons, stresses the need for accelerated expansion of Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) and faster freight train speeds (50 kmph). He calls for deploying advanced 12,000 HP electric locomotives and modern infrastructure.
