Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a new scheme to enhance construction and infrastructure equipment as part of Budget 2026. This scheme is aimed at strengthening capacity in the sector.
She also proposed a Rs 10,000 crore container manufacturing scheme to be rolled out over five years. Additionally, there will be a National Fibre Scheme to boost self-sufficiency in fibre and allied sectors.
In textiles, Sitharaman unveiled a major expansion and employment plan to modernise textile clusters. This includes Samarth 2.0 for skill development. Additionally, mega textile parks will be set up in challenge mode. The Mahatma Gandhi Gram Samaj initiative will support Khadi and handicrafts.
