The Centre has approved Rs 3,481 crore to deploy 11,000 electric buses across 5 cities in the first phase. Karnataka will get 4,500 buses, Delhi 2,800, Hyderabad 2,000, Ahmedabad 1,000, and Surat 600.

Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Surat got their full requests approved; Karnataka and Telangana received partial allocations.

The PM E-drive scheme aims to deploy 14,028 e-buses across 9 cities by FY26. The total budget for this initiative is Rs 10,800 crore. Subsidies range from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 35 lakh per bus, based on size. These will be disbursed in four stages.
