Chattisgarh government has demanded to set up a sugarcane research institute in the state from centre to encourage sugarcane cultivation.
Brijmohan Agrawal, state’s Agriculture Minister has raised the demand at the time of addressing the meeting called by the Central government in Delhi.
In the meeting Agrawal said, Setting up of a research institute will encourage sugarcane cultivation and help farmers to enhance its quality as well as productivity.
Agrawal also suggested that minimum support price should be fixed for the purpose of procurement of sugarcane, and sugarcane production should be exempted from the central excise duty to boost farmers and sugar mills to increase production.
