Shares of Cipla Ltd are trading flat after touching a day’s high of Rs 1,488.90 on 14th July. This follows the company’s announcement that it is preparing to enter the weight management segment in India, according to MD and Global CEO Umang Vohra.

The move, highlighted in Cipla’s FY25 Annual Report, comes as the company looks to tap into the growing demand for effective obesity treatments.

The company is also strengthening its presence in the central nervous system (CNS) space. Cipla has already in-licensed Sanofi’s CNS product range in India, including the anti-epileptic brand Frisium.

Vohra said Cipla is looking at more in-licensing deals or acquisitions in niche areas like ADHD and Parkinson’s disease.

Cipla remains committed to fighting antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Additionally, it is working on four innovative products in this area as it shifts from a volume-led to an innovation-driven approach.

The CEO said Cipla is focused on becoming a global, innovation-led, patient-centric healthcare company. It is investing in big brands, partnerships, digital infrastructure, and next-gen therapies.

Cipla reported a consolidated revenue of Rs 27,548 crore and a net profit of Rs 5,272 crore in FY25.
