Coal imports declined 5% to 14.52 million tonnes in October

According to the government, in the October month, coal imports dropped by 5 percent to 14.52 million tonnes (MT).

The Coal Secretary, Anil Swarup said that “DGCI&S data reveals that import of coal has come down for the fourth consecutive month. In October 2015, it is down by 5.10 percent over October 2014.”

On account of rise in domestic production, the coal imports had dropped by 27.16 percent to 12.6 MT in September.
