US-based AI cloud infrastructure company CoreWeave has entered India through a partnership with AdaniConneX to develop 240 MW of data centre capacity in Navi Mumbai.
The project marks CoreWeave’s first major data centre deployment in India and is aimed at supporting the country’s rapidly growing demand for AI computing infrastructure.
The planned facility will be located at AdaniConneX’s Taloja campus and will consist of three buildings, each offering 80 MW of capacity. The first phase is expected to become operational by mid-2028, with additional capacity scheduled to come online in phases. CoreWeave will be the sole tenant across the three buildings.
The partnership also includes an option for CoreWeave to add another 240 MW at the campus, potentially taking its total capacity at the site to 480 MW. The company is also planning to establish an office in India and hire local employees to work with customers and partners across the country’s AI ecosystem.
CoreWeave plans to deploy Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform at the facility through its AI cloud infrastructure. The data centres will support AI model training, inference, reasoning and agentic workloads. The Taloja campus is being designed for high-density AI computing, with direct liquid cooling for GPU data halls and a non-evaporative chilled water system.
The move comes as demand for AI-focused data centres accelerates in India. According to a Wood Mackenzie report cited by Bloomberg, India’s overall data centre capacity could rise from around 2.2 GW currently to 12 GW by 2030, while AI-specific capacity could reach 6.5 GW.
AdaniConneX is a 50:50 joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX. The company is already expanding its data centre footprint across India and is involved in a major AI data centre project with Google.
The CoreWeave partnership highlights India’s growing role in the global AI infrastructure race. For AdaniConneX, the deal strengthens its position in high-density AI data centres, while CoreWeave gains local infrastructure to serve Indian enterprises and AI developers.
