Cummins India Shares Hits 4-Month High as it Supplies Tech for Gail’s Hydrogen Plant

Cummins said it will leverage its proprietary PEM electrolysis technology for the GAIL project.

Global power solutions provider Cummins will partner with Tecnimont to help GAIL build a proton exchange membrane electrolyser for public sector gas company Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh, a press release on Wednesday said.

India’s largest plant is expected to produce 4.3 tonnes of green hydrogen daily, equivalent to about 10 megawatts of electricity generation.

Tecnimont Private Limited (TCMPL) is an engineering, procurement and construction company and the Indian subsidiary of Maire Tecnimont Group. Cummins said it would use its proprietary PEM electrolysis technology in the GAIL project.

“The GAIL Green Hydrogen generation project based on our PEM electrolyser technology is the first of its kind and will pave the way for many more such projects in the future,” said Ashwath Ram, MD of Cummins India.

Cummins has supplied and commissioned over 600 electrolysers with PEM and alkaline technologies worldwide.

According to the company, these electrolysers operate in leading hydrogen use cases such as hydrogen refuelling stations, industrial applications, natural gas networks and energy storage projects.
