Data Patterns shares touched a record high of Rs 5,000 after the company bagged a Rs 585.76 crore radar electronics order from BEL.
The trigger was straightforward. Data Patterns told exchanges it had won an order worth Rs 585.76 crore from Bharat Electronics for the supply of radar electronics.
The company confirmed there is no promoter interest involved and that the deal isn’t a related party transaction. This isn’t a one-off win either.
Data Patterns had last updated its order book on July 30, when it stood at Rs 2,654 crore, made up of confirmed orders plus deals still being negotiated.
Since then, the company has converted a chunk of that pipeline into firm business. It received orders worth Rs 771.08 crore after that date, and the new BEL contract is part of that number.
Of the total, Rs 745.93 crore came from orders that were already being negotiated, while Rs 25.15 crore were entirely fresh wins. The bigger picture matters here too.
Data Patterns works closely with defence organisations like HAL, BEL, DRDO and ISRO, building radars, electronic warfare systems, avionics and communication equipment for platforms such as the Tejas fighter jet and BrahMos missile programme.
The stock had a rough patch in July, falling 7% after its June quarter results showed profit dropping 13% to Rs 22 crore on rising raw material costs, even as revenue grew nearly 17%.
Friday’s order flow appears to have shifted investor attention back toward the company’s order pipeline.
As of 13:45 pm, Data Patterns shares were trading at Rs 4,892.00 on the NSE, up 4.08% for the day. The stock has now surged 135% from its 52 week low of Rs 2,131 touched in January.
