On November 30, Esports tournament platform Gamerji said it had raised $3 million from existing investors GVFL (formerly Gujarat Venture Finance) and Unicorn India Ventures as esports consumption in the country grows.

The startup plans to use the funds raised to expand into Southeast Asia, starting with Indonesia and the Philippines, and grow its platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Proceeds will also be used to develop EaaS (eSports as a Service) and other technology solutions to improve the online gaming experience.

Founded by Soham Thacker in 2019, Gamerji enables gamers to compete on the platform, build their game profiles, run tournaments and win prizes. It also allows people to watch live broadcasts, communicate with others and share content. To date, the platform has raised $5 million in funding.

The platform claims to currently serve more than 4 million users and host more than 400 games every day, covering more than 22 e-sports games, including “Call of Duty Mobile Games”, “CS: GO”, “Free Fire Max”, “Battlegrounds Mobile India” (BGMI) and “Clash Royale” among others.
