Excavation Planned After Nepal PM Declares Thori As Real Ayodhya

Thori of Birgunj was in the limelight after Nepalese Prime Minister Oli claimed that it was the real birthplace of the mythological king Lord Rama. Subsequently, the archaeological department declared that they plan to conduct a study in the site and perform excavation if needed.
The Department of Archaeology (DOA) was also reported to be in meetings with different ministries to decide on a way forward to conduct archaeological studies at Thori near Birganj. Further reports quoted Shri. Ram Bahadur Kunwar, the spokesperson for the DOA saying that department will seek the advice of experts and take a decision.  This claim was regarded as senseless and irrelevant by the top opposition leaders. They demanded that the Prime minister takes back his controversial statement.
After much public hue and cry in India and Nepal, a foreign ministry spokesperson clarified that it was not a political remark and there was no intention to hurt the feelings and sentiments of anyone. The statement also does not reduce the cultural importance and significance of Ayodhya. As there are many myths and stories the surrounding the birth of Lord Ram, this remark was to merely stress the need to conduct further studies to get more clarity on the same.
In a strongly-worded statement BJP national spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri condemned Oli’s remarks saying that it a ploy of left parties and they will be defeated in the election by the general public. Lord Ram is a matter of great faith in India and we cannot let anybody play with our feelings.
Prime Minister Oli who is already facing criticism for his way of functioning was chastised by the opposition further that he does not have any moral right to rule the country.
