Fiat Chrysler to Invest $150 Mn for Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles on Wednesday announced that it has decided to invest $150 million to set up a new Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad
The new innovation and technology development facility will be the largest Digital Hub of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) outside North America and EMEA. The Digital Hub will serve as a ‘transformation and innovation engine’ for FCA and drive global IT strategy to deliver technology and service Centres of Excellence. It will be focusing on the core competencies in technological areas such as connected vehicle programs, artificial intelligence (AI), data accelerators and cloud technologies, among others.
“In the digital era, data is the new currency. Our goal is to build an innovation powerhouse that harnesses the intelligence enabled by data to build exciting new products and services to deliver at the speed of our customers’ expectations,” said Mamatha Chamarthi, Chief Information Officer, FCA – North America and Asia Pacific Region.
Mumbai-headquartered FCA India has its major presence in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and has more than 3,000 employees. The company is planning to expand its presence in Telangana with its new hub, which will be creating around 1,000 new cutting-edge technology jobs by the end of 2021. FCA India manufactures Jeep Compass in its manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon, Maharashtra and exports the SUV (Sport utility vehicle) to 13 right-hand drive markets, including Japan and Australia.
