FICCI Stresses on Withdrawal of Restrictions in Unlock 3.0

FICCI – the industry’s voice for policy change has made a series of recommendations for Unlock 3.0 including making Indian and foreign carriers operating in India as well as permitting foreign nationals to travel to India and vice a versa.
According to FICCI, how phase three of lockdown pans out depends on what decisions are going to be taken. It has called for state governments to announce definite dates for reopening of tourism, monuments, tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants and bars.
FICCI recommended that restaurants and eateries in a hotel should be permitted to commence its services albeit at 50% capacity with proper safeguards and upholding social distancing restrictions. They should be allowed to have both residents as well as non-resident guests. The organization of all types of banquet and conference should also be in permissible. The prerequisite of a COVID-19 test before arrival in some of the states should be done away with as it is tiresome and costly. On the other hand, the hotel should mandatorily follow temperature checks, use of masks and social distancing. It also called for the opening of Metro rail services with the option of skipping the stations at containment zones. Services can commence at half the capacity and decision to increase can be taken in a gradual manner.
On the decision to open educational institutions and schools FICCI said the decision can be taken by the government based on the gravity of COVID-19 locally.
FICCI also recommended that public places like cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls etc can be opened up with appropriate hygiene measures in place.
