Finolex Cables shares jumped as much as 14% on Wednesday, hitting a fresh 52 week high of ₹1,374 after a strong Q1FY27 earnings beat.
The stock has now climbed close to 30% over the last two trading sessions. The stock is now about 96% higher than its 52-week low of ₹701, which it had reached in late January, thanks to that rise.
Trading volumes were unusually heavy too, with roughly 9.93 million shares changing hands across the NSE and BSE combined, well above the counter’s usual average.
At one point in early trade, the stock was up 10% even as the broader Sensex slipped, a sign the move was driven by company specific news rather than the wider market.
The trigger for the move was the company’s Q1FY27 earnings. In comparison to the same period previous year, revenue for the quarter increased by 44% to ₹2,013 crore.
EBITDA grew even faster, rising 79% to ₹244 crore, which pushed the operating margin up by more than two percentage points to 12.1%.
Net profit rose 53% to ₹249 crore, compared with ₹163 crore a year earlier. Growth came from more than one segment.
The electrical cables business brought in ₹1,767 crore in revenue, up from ₹1,206 crore, while the communication cables division saw an even sharper jump, with revenue rising to ₹176 crore from ₹109 crore.
The company did flag some near term pressure points, including elevated copper prices and tighter LPG and PNG supply linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict, both of which affected copper rod output and a few newer product lines.
On the expansion front, its new fibre draw capacity of 4 million fibre kilometres remains on track and is expected to go live by the third quarter of this fiscal year.
At 12:45 pm, the stock was trading at ₹1,308.60 on the NSE, up 8.34% for the day.
