Foxconn to Begin iPhone 15 Production in Tamil Nadu for Apple

Foxconn’s Tamil Nadu plant is gearing up to dispatch the latest iPhone units.

Foxconn Technology Group’s plant in Sriperumbudur is set to manufacture Apple Inc’s next-generation iPhone 15 to further bridge the gap between its Indian operations and its central manufacturing base in China.

Foxconn’s Tamil Nadu plant is gearing up to dispatch the latest iPhone units after its rollout from its Chinese factories with an intent to ramp up the quantity produced in India.

California-based Apple is on a path to diversify its manufacturing beyond China to help reduce supply chain vulnerabilities for its products. This comes after the increasing trade tensions between the US and China.

Prior to the iPhone 14, only a fragment of its iPhone was assembled in India, which caused its output to lag in China by 6-9 months.

The production capacity for the iPhone 15 will depend on the availability of its widely imported components, which Foxconn plans to ramp up to smoothen its production in India.

The new iPhone will likely be announced on 12 September, promising its biggest update to the device in three years. The changes include a major upgrade to the camera system across the range, and the pro variants will gain an upgrade of its 3-nanometer A16 processor.

The new lineup of its smartphones will play a crucial role in boosting the company’s sales after the company reported a third consecutive quarter of declining sales in its key consumer markets like India, the US, China, and Europe.
