Google has expanded Chromeβs built-in AI features to India, Canada and New Zealand. The rollout also adds support for more than 50 additional languages. The update introduces Gemini in Chrome, an AI assistant that helps users search, summarise information and complete tasks. Users can do this without leaving the webpage.
Gemini appears as an icon in the browser interface and can answer questions about the page. It can also summarise long articles or generate prompts and quizzes.
The tool can also interact with Google services like Gmail, Maps, Calendar and YouTube. This allows users to schedule meetings, check locations or draft emails directly from the Chrome side panel.
Another feature lets Gemini compare information across multiple open tabs. For example, it can summarise product listings from different websites into a comparison.
Google has also added Nano Banana 2, an image editing tool. It lets users modify images with text prompts in Chrome.
The company said the AI tools include security safeguards that require confirmation before performing sensitive actions. This applies to sending emails or adding calendar events.
