A Godawari Power unit gets EC in Maharashtra to build a plant for its 20 GWh battery energy storage project, boosting green power.

Maharashtra’s State Expert Appraisal Committee-3, or SEAC-3, approved Godawari New Energy Private Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Godawari Power & Ispat Limited.

The approval came through the committee’s 299th meeting. The company received the papers on 5 October, and the parent told the stock exchanges on 6 October.

The building will house the battery storage system. The site is the AURIC Bidkin Industrial Area in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district.

Put simply, a project like this needs an environmental go-ahead before construction can begin.

It stores electricity and releases it when needed. That helps balance solar and wind power, which do not always match the hours when people use it.

Here, the corporation has a 20 GWh capacity planned. The clearance announcement does not specify the construction timeline or project cost. The approval follows other recent moves.

On 1 October, Godawari Power & Ispat set up a new wholly owned subsidiary, Godawari Energy Solutions Private Limited, in Maharashtra.

It will handle engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance for battery storage and renewable energy projects. The parent subscribed to 1 lakh shares for Rs 10 lakh as starting capital.

Late in September, the company also received an offer for about 31 acres of land in Maharashtra’s AURIC area for its cold rolling mill project. A cold rolling mill turns steel into thinner, finished sheets.

Godawari Power & Ispat is best known for steel and power. The battery storage plan adds a clean energy business alongside them.

The company made the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI listing rules, which require firms to share material events with the exchanges.
